Tornike Rijvadze Opens Citrus Coordination Headquarters
The Citrus Coordination Headquarters has been launched in order to facilitate the smooth implementation of the citrus season and the sale of citrus.
The Chairman Tornike Rijvadze, together with the Minister of Agriculture of Ajara, Zaza Shavadze, opened the Citrus Coordination Headquarters and participated in the early mandarin picking process at the Chakvi Citrus Nursery Demonstration Plot.
By the decision of the Ajara Government, the subsidy for industrial processing (non-standard) mandarins has been increased by 10 tetri, accordingly, the price of mandarins for industrial processing will be 40 tetri.
This year, a citrus harvest of 40-45 thousand tons is expected.
More than 20 citrus processing plants will receive export mandarins, while two canneries in Kobuleti will process unlimited quantities of substandard fruit.
The headquarters was launched with the support of the Government of Ajara, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and the Ministry of Agriculture of Ajara and will continue its work until February 1.
