Sichuan
Province (People's Republic of China) – July 2023
Sichuan province is located in the
upper Yangtze River valley in the southwestern part of China. Sichuan is the
second largest of the Chinese provinces.
Population – 83,8 million.
Administrative Center - Chengdu.
On
July 29, 2023, the agreement on the establishment of friendly relations between
Ajara Autonomous Republic and Sichuan Province was signed in Chengdu, Sichuan
Province.
The
agreement promotes cooperation between the parties in following areas:
Ø Economy
and Trade;
Ø Science
and Technology;
Ø Education;
Ø Public
Health;
Ø People-to-people
exchanges.
Mangystau Region (Republic of Kazakhstan) – March
2017
Mangystau Region is located in the southwestern
part of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.
Mangistau is a port and industrial region, where 25% of Kazakhstan's oil is
extracted.
Population - 745,909.
Administrative Center – Aktau.
On
October 3, 2005, the Program on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and
Humanitarian Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and
Mangystau Region (Republic of Kazakhstan) was signed in Tbilisi.
On
March 1, 2017, Memorandum of Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic
(Georgia) and Mangystau Region (Republic of Kazakhstan) was drawn in Aktau.
In
the framework of the Memorandum, the Parties support the strengthening of
mutual beneficial cooperation in the following fields:
Ø Trade
and Economy;
Ø Healthcare;
Ø Education,
Culture and Sport;
Ø Tourism;
Ø Transport;
Ø
Agriculture.
Batumi
State Maritime Academy signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Higher
Educational Institution of Aktau.
Mogilev Region (Republic of Belarus) – September 2016
Mogilev Province is located in the
eastern part of Republic of Belarus.
Population - 989,700.
Administrative Center - city of Mogilev.
On
September 1, 2016, the Memorandum of Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous
Republic (Georgia) and Mogilev Region (Republic of Belarus) was signed in
Tbilisi.
The
Memorandum envisages development of cooperation in the following spheres:
Ø Economy;
Ø Healthcare;
Ø Education
and Sport;
Ø Culture;
Ø
Agriculture.
Malopolska Voivodeship (Republic of
Poland) – August 2016
Malopolska Voivodeship is
located on the south of the Republic of Poland.
Population - 3, 4 million.
Administrative Center - Krakow.
On
August 19, 2016,
the Agreement on Intents of Establishing Interregional Cooperation between
Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Malopolska
Voivodeship
(Republic of Poland) was drawn in Batumi.
The Agreement intends to establish
interregional cooperation in the following fields:
Ø Economy and Business;
Ø Tourism;
Ø Education, Culture and Sport.
Cooperation between Ajara Autonomous Republic and
Malopolska Voivodeship was established in 2014. By the initiative and
support of the Marshal`s Office of Malopolska Voivodeship, the project of Ajara
Labor Market and Economic Forecasting Observatory was launched.
The project included the future development prospects of the Ministry of
Finance and Economy of Ajara Autonomous Republic, of the Ministry of Health and
Social Care of Ajara Autonomous Republic and of the Employment Agency of Ajara
Autonomous Republic. The
project has significally contributed to the economic development and improving living standards of the region.
Jiangxi Province (People’s Republic of China) –
June 2016
Jiangxi Province is located in
the southwestern part of the People's Republic of China.
Population - 45,188,635.
Administrative Center - Nanchang.
On
June 24, 2016, the Letter of Intent on the Establishment of Sister Province
Relationship between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Jiangxi Province
(People’s Republic of China) was signed in Batumi.
Under the
Agreement, the Parties will:
Ø carry out exchanges and
cooperation in all sectors to promote common prosperity and development;
Ø establish regular contacts and look for negotiations of exchanges and
cooperation.
In the scope of partnership, on June
24, 2016, the Cooperation Agreement on Trade and Investment
between the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Ajara Autonomous
Republic and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Jiangxi Sub
Council was
signed in Batumi.
Cork County (Ireland) – June 2016
Cork County is located in the
southwestern part of Ireland, in Manchester Province.
Population - 360,152.
Administrative Center
- city
of Cork.
On June 21, 2016, Friendship Agreement between Ajara Autonomous
Republic (Georgia) and the County of Cork (Ireland) was drawn in Batumi.
The Agreement envisages development
of cooperation between the Parties in the following areas:
Ø Economy;
Ø Tourism;
Ø Culture;
Ø EU Awareness.
Lower Silesian Voivodeship (Republic of Poland) –
February 2016
Lower Silesian Voivodeship is
located in the southwestern part of the Republic of Poland. Population - 3
million.
Administrative Center - Wrocław.
On
February 27, 2016, the Agreement on Interregional Cooperation between Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Lower Silesian Voivodeship (Republic of
Poland) was signed in Wrocław.
In frames of the Agreement, the
Parties decide to cooperate and support mutual exchange of experiences and
information to develop joint projects in the following areas of activity:
Ø concerning the use of
financial means from EU structural funds and community programmes;
Ø joint action to encourage
trade and commercial links between regions of both Parties;
Ø development of relations
between universities and research and technology centers;
Ø education, youth exchange
and lifelong learning;
Ø joint action to encourage
health-care and health resort cooperation;
Ø culture, encouraging
contacts between cultural institutions and organizations;
Ø tourism, encouraging mutual
exchange of experience in tourism development.
Within the framework of
Ajara-Lower Silesia cooperation, there is an active exchange of high-level
bilateral visits, which contributes to the development of friendly, fruitful
cooperation between the parties.
The
regional cooperation has gradually expanded, as evidenced by the achieved tangible
results: memorandums of cooperation have been signed at the legislative,
municipal and institutional levels, as well as exchange projects in the fields
of educational and cultural, trade and tourism, healthcare have been launched.
Mykolaiv Oblast (Ukraine) – September 2015

line with the Agreement, the Parties encourage the development of cooperation

September 2015
Dalian Municipality is located in
Liaoning
Province (People`s Republic of China) by the Yellow Sea.
Population – 5,9 million.

On September 10, 2015, the
Agreement on Establishing Friendly Cooperative City Relations between Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and the City of Dalian (People`s Republic of
China) was signed in Dalian.
The Agreement envisages development
of cooperation in the following fields:

Dnipropetrovsk Oblast (Ukraine) – May 2014
Dnipropetrovsk Oblast is located in the southeastern part of Ukraine. The
region is the most important industrial part of the country.
Population – 3 million.
Administrative Center - city
of Dnipropetrovsk.
On
May 19, 2014,
Memorandum of Cooperation between the Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic
and Dnepropetrovsk Regional Council was signed in Batumi.
The
Memorandum promotes development
of cooperation in the following fields:

Lori Region (Republic of Armenia) – September 2013
Lori Region is located in the northern
part of the Republic of Armenia. The region is an important part of the
country.
Population - 222,805.
Administrative Center – Vanadzor
On
September 9, 2013,
Memorandum of Understanding between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and
Lori Region (Republic of Armenia) was signed in Batumi.
The
Memorandum envisages development of cooperation in the following areas:
Ø Industry, Agriculture, Trade and Transport;
Ø Tourism and Sports;
Ø Education and Science;
Ø Culture and Art;
Ø Healthcare and Social Issues;
Ø Local Self-Governance.
In
parallel with the regional cooperation, partnership at municipal level was
established between the self-governing units of Ajara Autonomous Republic and
Lori region.
Federal Land of Brandenburg (Federal Republic of
Germany) – June 2013
Federal Land of Brandenburg lies in the northeast of the
Federal Republic of Germany.
Population – 2,6 million.
Administrative Center -
Potsdam.
On
June 6, 2013, Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Parliament of the
Federal Land of Brandenburg (Federal Republic of Germany) and the Supreme
Council of Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) was signed in Potsdam.
The Memorandum envisages
development of cooperation and exchange of information between the Parties
considering the basic resources and specificity of parliamentary, regional and
federal governance.
Within the framework of
cooperation, cultural and educational projects, as well as high-level bilateral
visits were carried out.
Regen District (Federal Republic of Germany) –
April 2013
The District of Regen is located in the southern
part of the Federal Republic of Germany and is one of the
most important
districts in Bavaria region.
Population - 77,959.
Administrative Center - city of Regen.
On April
30, 2013, the Memorandum of Understanding between Ajara Autonomous Republic
(Georgia) and Regen Distric of Bavaria Region (Federal Republic of Germany) was
signed in Regen.
Based
on the Memorandum, the Parties will promote cooperation in the following
fields:
Ø Tourism;
Ø Agriculture;
Ø Education;
Ø Regional Management.
Odessa Oblast (Ukraine) – September 2013
Odessa Oblast is located in the
southwestern part of Ukraine. It is an important port, touristic, cultural,
educational and industrial region of the country.
Population - 2,379,229.
Administrative Center – city of Odessa.
On March 25, 2005, the Program on Trade,
Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation
between the Government of Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and State Administration of Odessa
Region (Ukraine)
was signed in Kiev.
On
September 13, 2013, the
Agreement on
Trade, Economic, Scientific-Technical
and Cultural Cooperation between the Government of Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and State
Administration of Odessa
Region (Ukraine)
was signed in Batumi.
According
to the Agreement, the Parties promote cooperation in the following fields:
Ø Economy,
Industrial Activities and Transport;
Ø Tourism;
Ø Agriculture;
Ø Education,
Culture and Sport;
Ø Healthcare
and Social Issues;
Ø
Ecology and Consumption of Natural
Resources.
The
cooperation established at legislative, municipal and institutional levels
played a significant strengthening relations between Ajara and Odessa.
Alexandria Governorate (Arab Republic of Egypt)
– May 2012
Alexandria Governorate is located in the northern part of the
Arab Republic of Egypt, in Nile delta across the Mediterranean Sea. The region
is an important cultural, educational and industrial part of the Arab Republic
of Egypt.

- 6,1 million.
Capital
City - city of Alexandria.
On May 12, 2012, the Cooperation Agreement
between Ajara Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Alexandria Governorate (Arab
Republic of Egypt) was signed in Alexandria.
The Agreement
envisages cooperation between the parties in the following fields:
Ø Economy
and Business;
Ø Tourism;
Ø Education,
Culture and Sport;
Ø Environment
Protection;
Ø Agriculture.
Burgas District (Republic of Bulgaria) – April 2012
Burgas District is located in the
southeastern part of Republic of Bulgaria. The District is an important
cultural, educational and industrial part of Bulgaria.
Population - 380,000.
Administrative Center – city of Burgas.
On April 2, 2012, the Agreement
for the establishment of Economic and Cultural Relations between the District
Administration of Burgas (Republic of Bulgaria) and the Government of Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) was signed in Batumi.
The Agreement envisages
development of cooperation in the following spheres:

and Sport;

Regional
Governance and Local Self-Governance.
In frames
of regional partnership and for the purpose of deepening bilateral relations,
cooperation at municipal level is also established.
Silesian
Voivodeship (Republic
of Poland) –

Silesian Voivodeship is the historical region of
the Republic of Poland.
Population - 4,676,983.
Administrative Center – Katowice.
On June 17, 2011, the
Agreement on Establishing Cooperation and Friendly Relations between Ajara
Autonomous Republic (Georgia) and Silesian Voivodeship (Republic of Poland) was
signed in Katowice.
The
Agreement envisages cooperation in the following areas:
Ø
Trade and Economy;
Ø
Education, Culture and Art;
Ø
Healthcare and Medical Science;
Ø
Tourism;
Ø Rural
Development.
Bilateral
relations between Ajara Autonomous Republic and Silesian Voivodeship are
developing successfully. In frames of existing memorandums of understanding, legislative,
educational and municipal entities have also established partner relations.
